We are changing the digital system we use to support patients receiving follow-up care after treatment for prostate cancer.
We are moving from MyMedicalRecord (MMR) to a new portal called Patients Know Best (PKB):
- You will get an email or SMS text message inviting you to register for your Patients Know Best (PKB) account.
- Then we will send a letter to tell you when your clinical information is available on PKB. You will also get a letter asking you to have a blood test before your next review.
- At the end of March 2025, we will stop using MyMedicalRecord.
This change will not affect your care or your clinical team. It is just a different system for communicating and sharing information with you. You can also use Patients Know Best (PKB) to communicate and share information with us.
What to expect from PKB
PKB is a secure online portal where you can store and access your health records. You can use it to share information with healthcare teams or to track your progress over time.
When we change to PKB:
- We will use PKB, email and SMS text messages to communicate and share information with you.
- You will get your PSA blood test reminders and PSA result letters by email or SMS text message. (In future, messages should also be available in the NHS App.)
- Every 2 years, we will ask you to complete a Health MOT assessment on PKB. This is a short questionnaire about your health and how you are feeling.
- It is best to read letters and other messages we send you the day they arrive. If you do not open a message on PKB within 48 hours, the system will automatically send a paper copy by post.
If you can't go digital
We know that not everyone has internet access or a suitable device - for example, a smartphone, laptop or tablet.
If this applies to you, just let us know. We can send your letters by post and a Cancer Support Worker will phone you every 2 years to complete your Health MOT with you.
