Whenever the Trust wants to use personal information, such as patient information, we undertake a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIAs).

This is to assess any risk to the information and to take action to control any risks identified.

We do not publish our DPIAs, but provide a summary of the types of processing where we undertake a DPIA:

  • New software which processes patient information

  • New services where a third party processes patient information to provide clinical services like diagnostic reporting or translation of appointments

  • New digital solutions where patient information will be processed, such as a new solution send referrals

A few examples of recent DPIA summaries can be found below:

DPIA Name Purpose Summary
myTomorrows Access to clinical trials

We are working with an organisation called myTomorrows who provides a service to patients and clinicians for finding and accessing clinical trials for patients. Their platform makes it easy to consider clinical trials for patients and to immediately contact and/or refer the patient to a hospital that is running a clinical trial, outside our centre. Patient information can be shared with other hospitals within the NHS, for the purpose of the other hospitals contacting the patient to plan on-site visits for the purpose of enrolling the patient into a clinical trial.
